AHMI 2009- American Humanics Management Institute in Indianapolis was a wonderful blend of educational workshops and lectures and networking opportunities. AHMI was a great experience for our TSUNLA students, Jacqueline Meeks and Susan West, who attended the conference.
Speakers included Robert Egger, the Founder and President of the DC Central Kitchen, which assists unemployed men and women to learn marketable culinary skills with foods donated by restaurants, hotels and caterers are converted into balanced meals. Since opening in 1989, the Kitchen has distributed over 20 million meals and helped 700 men and women gain full-time employment.

The TSUNLA and Tennessee State University generously sponsored members of the TSU Nonprofit Leadership Association (TSUNLA) to attend the American Humanics Management Institute in Indianapolis, IN which was held January 4- 7, 2009.
The American Humanics program is an innovative course of study that equips college and university students to become skilled professionals and leaders in America's nonprofit organizations.Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, American Humanics is the only national nonprofit organization meeting this need. To ensure students' success, American Humanics provides leadership opportunities, internships, and scholarships as well as education curriculum.

The TSUNLA Executive Campus Director Dr. Joan Gibran, TSUNLA Student Members Jacqueline Meeks and Susan West attended American Humanics Management Institute 2009.
The American Humanics Management/Leadership Institute (AHMI) is an intensive educational symposium established by American Humanics in 1973. AHMI provides the capstone experience in nonprofit management and leadership education. Local and national nonprofit leaders present issues pertinent to professional leadership and engage participants through workshops, dialogues, forums and case studies. Expanded AHMI Placement Services allows local and national nonprofit executives to interview participants for internships, fellowships, and professional positions. The unique, interactive format of the Institute exposes the next generation of nonprofit leaders to the realistic experiences of a nonprofit organization.
